Wiley X corrective insert for Saber, PT-1 and PT-3

The Wiley X corrective insert is the prescription lens carrier designed for the Saber, PT-1 and PT-3 ballistic eyewear. It allows prescription wearers to use ballistic protection without resorting to contact lenses, maintaining full visual correction for shooting, hunting and professional use.

The system works as a second optical plane inside the eyewear shell: the insert clips into the ballistic frame and holds the prescription lenses fitted by the wearer's own optician, which are mounted separately. This keeps the ballistic protection of the outer lenses fully intact — they remain the Wiley X certified lenses — without compromising either correct vision or the safety rating of the eyewear. One trade-off to bear in mind is that adding a second optical plane can introduce slight internal reflections in raking light conditions: anyone using photochromic or high-contrast tints should check compatibility with their own optics before having the lenses fitted. The insert accepts prescriptions from –6 to +6 diopters, covering the vast majority of corrections in common use.

Prescription lenses are not included and must be purchased and fitted by an optician: the insert is the carrier, not the complete system. This separation does, however, allow the outer Wiley X lenses to be swapped — for example switching from one tint to another — without having to redo the prescription mounting.
