Closed red dots

Red dot sights with the emitter enclosed between two lenses, inside a tubular or squared body.

What changes compared to an open red dot

The closed body protects the emitter from rain, mud and dust: the dot stays clear even when the optic is exposed for hours. This is why it is the most common choice for a rifle in outdoor use.

The trade-off is greater weight and bulk, and a slightly more framed field of view compared to an open red dot.

How to choose

What matters is the dot size in MOA, battery life and mount height, which must align the dot with the eye on the firearm. For optional magnification, pair it with a magnifier.
