Rothco Tactical Hooded Softshell Jacket — with hood

The Rothco Tactical Hooded Jacket is a three-layer softshell jacket with hood, designed for shooters, hunters and operators working outdoors in variable weather conditions. The breathable fabric combines wind resistance, moisture management and warmth retained by the internal fleece lining, making it suitable both as an outer layer during transitional seasons and as an additional shell in winter.

The treated fabric is water-repellent and windproof, but an important distinction applies: water-repellency means water beads off the surface and the jacket handles light rain — it does not mean it is waterproof under sustained heavy rain or immersion. Anyone operating in persistent wet conditions should keep this in mind. On the other hand, the three-layer breathability prevents overheating during physically demanding activity, where a conventional waterproof membrane tends to become stifling.

The pocket layout is designed for operational use: two large chest pockets with zip and internal compartments with loops, two shoulder pockets also with zip, a zip pocket on the left wrist and two internal pockets. The large rear pocket with dual side zips allows flat items to be carried without adding bulk to the front. Underarm ventilation zips release heat during physical exertion without having to remove the jacket. Velcro panels measuring 10x10 cm on both sleeves allow patches or identification markings to be attached. Reinforced cable ports on the shoulders and collar allow earpiece cables to be routed without exposing an open gap to the elements.
