The fabric is a 65% polyester and 35% cotton Ripstop blend, combining the lightweight and moisture-resistant properties of synthetics with the thermal comfort of cotton.

The Ripstop weave prevents tears from spreading: an initial rip caused by brambles, fencing or ground abrasion stays confined to the point of origin rather than running the length of the leg. This significantly extends the garment's service life under heavy use. The fabric is not waterproof, but its woven structure slows rapid water absorption during light rain or contact with wet vegetation, improving drying time compared to pure cotton. Those operating in areas with frequent rainfall should consider additional outer protection — these trousers alone are not a substitute for waterproof overtrousers.

The 8 pockets — two side pockets, two thigh cargo pockets, two rear pockets and two calf pockets — allow the load to be distributed across the leg rather than concentrated on the belt, reducing hip pressure during extended outings. The calf pockets are particularly useful when wearing a heavy belt kit or a plate carrier that already occupies the thigh positions. That said, this distribution lowers the centre of gravity along the leg: when speed of movement is the priority, it is worth keeping the lower pockets light.
