Nite Ize S-Biner Plastic #2 Carabiner — Coyote

The Nite Ize S-Biner Plastic is a dual-gate carabiner made from fibreglass-reinforced nylon, designed for quick and secure attachment to belts, packs, vests or field gear. Size #2 measures 51.7x24.5x6.2 mm and weighs just 3 g, with a rated load capacity of 4.5 kg.

The S-shaped body with two opposing gates is what sets this clip apart: the dual openings let you link two separate objects across different planes — for example, a vehicle key to a lanyard ring — or secure a single item from both sides for extra retention. The stainless steel locking gate ensures the open side does not release accidentally, unlike spring-gate carabiners with no active closure.

The thermoplastic construction makes it considerably lighter than an aluminium equivalent, but it comes with a clear limitation: the 4.5 kg rating applies to static carrying loads only, not dynamic or safety-critical loads. The manufacturer explicitly rules out any climbing or life-safety use where failure could cause injury. For keyrings, cases, torches and lightweight accessories it is a practical and efficient tool — it is not a safety carabiner.
