The FMA E-Lite is a low-profile illuminated positional marker designed to identify personnel and equipment in low-visibility conditions. The silicone body measures approximately 100x30x10 mm and weighs 30 g, making it suitable for attachment to helmets, vests, packs and PALS webbing without restricting movement or interfering with parachute operations.
The flexible silicone serves two purposes at once: it conforms to curved surfaces such as a helmet shell, and it reduces pressure points that, on rigid housings, can cause injury during sudden movements or jumps. Attachment is by velcro, allowing the unit to be moved quickly from one platform to another without tools — unlike rigid clips, which require disassembly. The trade-off is that velcro offers less resistance to accidental snagging than a mechanical mount: in dense vegetation or close-contact situations, mounting position should be chosen carefully.
Rated battery life is 120 hours of continuous use from a single 3 V CR2032 cell, which is widely available and field-replaceable. Two operating modes — steady and flashing — allow visibility to be matched to the situation. The unit is water- and impact-resistant.
