Helikon-Tex Woodsman Anorak

The Woodsman Anorak is an outdoor windshell built from two distinct materials zoned by function: the front in DuraCanvas® — a 55% polyester, 23% cotton, 19% nylon, 3% elastane blend — handles abrasion, sharp objects and sparks; the back in Stormstretch® gives up ground to breathability and freedom of movement. The result is a garment designed for extended outings in woodland environments, where stopping, walking and working alternate throughout the day.

The choice to combine DuraCanvas® and Stormstretch® reflects a deliberate trade-off: the front absorbs wear, branches, embers and contact with vegetation, but stretches less; the back lets the shoulders and spine breathe and does not restrict movement when carrying a pack or handling a firearm. Those looking for an all-stretch garment will find the front stiffer than expected; those wanting maximum durability across the back will pay for it in breathability. The Woodsman chooses not to compromise either side.

The side zips open all the way to the armpits: during a climb or sustained effort they vent excess heat without removing the jacket; partially open, they give access to a hip-mounted sidearm without opening the front panel. The front kangaroo pocket houses an internal organiser, useful for keeping a map, light, knife or other small tools separated and findable without rummaging blind. All zippers are YKK®, a choice that matters for the longevity of a garment working in cold, wet and dirty conditions. The hood and hem are adjustable via elastic drawcord and stopper, sealing the fit against wind or light rain. Weight is approximately 800 g depending on size.
