Helikon-Tex Wolfhound Hooded Jacket

The Wolfhound is a lightweight insulated hooded jacket designed for anyone who needs compressible warmth on hand at all times: hunting, hiking, or as a mid-layer under a shell in winter conditions. The core of the jacket is the Climashield® Apex™ synthetic insulation at 67 g/m², chosen because it retains its thermal properties when wet — unlike natural down, which collapses under moisture.

The outer WindPack® nylon shell blocks wind and sheds light water — it is water-resistant, not waterproof: it handles a brief downpour or light rain, but is not suited to prolonged precipitation. VersaStretch® panels under the arms and at the cuffs address the typical trade-off found in insulated jackets: they add stretch where stress is highest, where a rigid outer fabric would create friction and restrict arm movement, while still keeping wind protection over exposed areas.

The jacket packs into its own internal zip pocket, compressing into a bundle that fits in a magazine pouch or pack without taking up meaningful space. The two lower hand-warmer pockets are fleece-lined — a detail that matters when returning to a vehicle or waiting in a fixed position after your hands have already been working in the cold. The elasticated hood hem and adjustable drawcord at the lower hem let you fine-tune the fit without needing to remove your gloves.
