Helikon-Tex Tramontane WindPack Windshell — Black

The Tramontane WindPack is an ultra-lightweight windshell from Helikon-Tex designed for those who spend time outdoors and need a protective layer always at hand without sacrificing weight. Made from 100% WindPack® Nylon with a fabric weight of 40 g/m² and a DWR (Durable Water Repellency) finish, it weighs around 180 g in size L and stuffs into its own integrated pocket, disappearing into a rucksack or the pocket of a tactical vest until it's actually needed.

The 40 g/m² fabric blocks wind effectively, and the DWR coating sheds light moisture — drizzle, humidity, spray — without adding bulk. One limit worth clarifying: DWR is not waterproofing. In heavy, sustained rain the fabric will wet through. The Tramontane is designed as a wind barrier and shelter from light precipitation, not as a replacement for a waterproof membrane. Worn over a fleece or thermal layer it delivers maximum thermal protection; worn alone in summer it acts as a wind barrier on descents or during rest stops.

The full-length zip allows fast on-and-off even with gloves. The hood is adjustable, the hem features a drawcord system and the cuffs are elasticated: three details that cut out air infiltration without requiring additional velcro or cords to manage under pressure. The Regular fit leaves enough room to wear the jacket over a mid-layer without restricting movement.
