The FMA LAB PEQ LA5-A is a faithful replica of the AN/PEQ-15A tactical laser designator, designed to match the footprint, control layout and appearance of the unit as used by professional operators and advanced shooters. Powered by 2 CR123A or 2 16340/RCR123A 3 V batteries (not included), it provides multi-mode management of visible light and IR illumination through dedicated selectors on the body.

The control system distinguishes two output levels for visible light: the AH position delivers high output, with a single press for momentary activation and a double-click for constant-on; the AL position handles reduced output following the same operational logic. This distinction allows the light output to be adapted to the situation without reconfiguring the unit, keeping operation under pressure simple and predictable.

The IR section covers multiple output levels — right IR light in low or high configuration, with optional addition of the left auxiliary illuminator — selectable via positions DL, AH-IR, DH and IH. The auxiliary illuminator can run in steady or strobe mode, offering flexibility in marking and illumination for those operating with night vision devices.
