Retention is adjusted by loosening the bottom screw, squeezing or spreading the side clips by hand until the desired tension is reached, then locking the screw back down. This approach gives a customised fit across magazines of different widths, but the trade-off is worth understanding: the open-top design significantly speeds up both draw and re-insertion while giving up the mechanical security of a retention snap.
