Miltec

The Miltec Cat Eyes helmet band is an accessory for hard-shell helmets in U.S. military style, combining night-time visual identification with the ability to secure small everyday items within easy reach. It is designed for operators and units moving in column or on night marches who need to maintain visual contact with the person ahead without resorting to active light signals.

Two photoluminescent squares are stitched to the rear of the band, absorbing ambient light and re-emitting it in the dark: they allow the following soldier to keep pace with the element ahead without torches or infrared signals. This is a passive and silent solution, but it relies on prior light exposure — in prolonged total darkness its effectiveness gradually diminishes.

The front elastic allows identification documents, medical data such as blood type and unit designation, or small personal items to be slipped in. Retention is quick and requires no opening of pockets or Velcro, but it is not suited to holding heavy or bulky material: the function is immediate access, not secure carry. The Olive Drab colour integrates with equipment in standard military colouring.

Key points

  • The photoluminescent squares on the rear make the leading operator visible during night marches without requiring active illumination.
  • The front elastic lets you keep identification data or small items immediately accessible without opening any pockets.
  • Compatible with hard-shell helmets in U.S. Military style: check head circumference before purchasing.
  • The effectiveness of the photoluminescent squares depends on light exposure: not a solution for prolonged total darkness.
  • Olive Drab colour suits uniforms and kit in classic military colouring.
