The choice to combine these two materials addresses a specific trade-off: the TopCool torso breathes and dries quickly against the skin, but does not offer the same mechanical durability as NyCo. The sleeves, on the other hand, take constant pressure from velcro, loops and carrier edges, and therefore require a tougher fabric. Those wearing a plate carrier during prolonged use will find that the boundary between the two materials falls exactly where the shirt is most exposed to wear, while the hottest zone — the torso covered by the carrier — remains the lightest.

Two zip bicep pockets allow flat items such as a folded map or small accessories to be stored without shifting during movement.
