Gerber

The Gerber Paralite is an EDC pocket folding knife with a 76 mm drop point blade in 5Cr13 stainless steel and an overall open length of 180 mm. Weighing 62 g and measuring 104 mm closed, it disappears into a pocket without adding noticeable weight to your belt or vest, staying within reach during outdoor activities, hunting, or everyday field use.

The stainless steel frame lock secures the blade when open by applying direct pressure to the side of the handle frame: a solid, clean system with no external springs that can collect dirt or fail. The trade-off compared to a G10 liner lock is slightly more weight from the metal frame, offset by greater overall rigidity and a grip that won't slip even with wet hands.

Opening is done via an ambidextrous thumb stud at the blade's heel, compatible with both right- and left-handed users without any modification. The plain-edge drop point geometry is the most versatile choice for cutting cord, opening packaging, or field dressing small game: the lowered tip offers more control than a clip point, giving up a small amount of piercing ability that is rarely needed in an EDC field knife.

Key features

  • The steel frame lock holds the blade firmly even under lateral load, with no additional moving parts subject to wear.
  • The 76 mm 5Cr13 drop point blade is easy to resharpen in the field with any medium-grit stone, even after heavy use.
  • The ambidextrous thumb stud allows one-handed opening with no side preference, useful when the other hand is occupied.
  • The 62 g weight and 104 mm closed length fit any pocket without any perceptible bulk.
  • The stainless steel frame balances durability and easy maintenance: it absorbs no moisture, odours, or dirt the way some polymer handles do.
