The WE M45A1 is a GBB (gas blow-back) replica of the pistol adopted by the special units of the United States Marine Corps, specifically in the M.E.U. variant. It reproduces the proportions and operating mechanics of the original in a compact airsoft format.

The gas blow-back system delivers realistic slide movement with each shot, making weapon-handling drills more consistent with real-steel practice. Gas choice and hop-up adjustment both affect BB trajectory: it is advisable to tune the hop-up according to the BB weight being used in order to achieve the best flight stability.

As with any single-action GBB, the slide locks back on the last round when the magazine is empty, signalling the reload in exactly the same way as the original.
