The Helikon-Tex UTS (Urban Tactical Shorts) are tactical shorts in PolyCotton Ripstop designed for anyone who needs to carry EDC or tactical gear while keeping a civilian profile. With an inner leg length of 28 cm, the cut works equally well for everyday use and operational environments in warm conditions.

The elasticated waistband with velcro closure allows fit adjustment without changing size, while the 50 mm belt loops accept wide EDC belts, including UTL and Cobra systems. The jeans-inspired seat cut — narrower at the back — prevents the shorts from sliding down when wearing a loaded belt or making sudden movements. This is a deliberate design choice that generic cargo shorts rarely make, and one that becomes noticeable during extended use.

The pocket layout is designed to distribute the load without creating visible bulk: two classic front pockets with reinforced edges hold clips and attachments without fraying, the two thigh cargo pockets close with reversed YKK zips to protect the slider from impacts, and the two front flap pockets with velcro accept a smartphone or an AR magazine. Inside the rear pockets there are additional slim inner pockets with adjustable depth — useful for documents or small flat accessories that need to stay put. The trade-off to keep in mind is this: the number of pockets offers great load versatility, but requires a little familiarity to quickly remember where each item is.
