NITE IZE CamJam Tie Down Straps — Red

The NITE IZE CamJam Tie Down Straps are heavy-duty tie-down straps made from high-density woven polypropylene, designed to secure heavy loads on vehicles, roof racks, trailers and field equipment. At 549 cm in length, they can wrap around bulky items without needing to join multiple straps together.

The locking mechanism is a die-cast zinc alloy cam buckle: pulling the free end of the strap drives the cam into the webbing and locks the load without any knots. The key feature is the release: unlike many ratchet straps, the CamJam cam allows tension to be eased off gradually even under high load, avoiding the sudden release that can cause secured items to shift or fall. Anyone working at height or with asymmetric loads will appreciate this more than any other spec on the sheet.

The 25 mm wide strap is bar-tacked to the buckle at four points, spreading the pull force over a larger area than a single stitch would. On the underside of the buckle there is an integrated protective pad that prevents marks on painted surfaces or materials sensitive to pressure. One trade-off worth knowing: the cam system is fast to operate one-handed, but holding power depends on the webbing being correctly centred in the buckle — a twisted or folded strap reduces grip. With a little practice the motion becomes second nature.
