Helikon-Tex Heavyweight Socks

The Helikon-Tex Heavyweight Socks are high-thickness technical socks designed for harsh weather conditions and extended wear. The five-fibre blend — 40% wool, 25% acrylic, 15% polypropylene, 17% polyamide and 3% elastane — combines thermal insulation, moisture management and abrasion resistance in a sock available in EU sizes 39-42 (M) and 43-46 (L).

The 40% wool content is the thermal core of the sock: natural wool retains heat even when wet, continuing to insulate the foot during heavy sweating or in damp environments. The polypropylene works in the opposite direction: it wicks moisture outward, away from the skin, reducing the risk of maceration during continuous use. This balance between insulation and breathability is the central design trade-off — a heavyweight sock is never neutral: it either warms and traps moisture, or warms and breathes. The Heavyweight Socks leans toward the latter, but it remains a cold-weather sock suited to dry or moderately damp conditions, not to intense aerobic activity in mild temperatures.

The seamless construction eliminates pressure points and friction zones that, on long outings or when wearing heavy boots, become the primary causes of abrasion. The anatomical cut differentiates right from left foot, adapting the fabric tension to the natural shape of the foot and reducing internal sock movement during walking.
