The Rattler Compact II is the second-generation compact version of the FMA hands-free torch, designed for those who need light readily available without tying up their hands. At 77 x 48.3 x 28 mm and 57.5 g, it can be worn as a headlamp with the included elastic headband or mounted directly to MOLLE webbing via the integrated rotating clip.

The nylon polymer body absorbs impacts and carries an IP67 rating, meaning it can handle temporary submersion in water — the kind of conditions you encounter in the field, on a hunt, or on a hike. Four LED modes — white at 6 to 65 lm, red at 0.4 W, blue at 0.1 W, and IR at 15 mW — cover the most common use cases, from map reading to working with night vision devices. Each mode switches between steady and strobe with the same dual button, which can be operated with gloves on.

Compatibility with both CR123A and AA batteries is what sets this torch apart in an operational context: the CR123A delivers more power and provides up to 5 hours of runtime at full output, while the AA — available virtually anywhere — stretches to up to 60 hours in low mode. One trade-off to keep in mind: the rotating MOLLE clip makes for fast and versatile attachment, but the torch can swing on a rig during fast movement, which may get distracting — in those situations the elastic headband offers a more secure fit.
