The FMA PVS-31 battery pack is a functional unit designed to power PVS-31 night vision devices and compatible equipment. It holds 4 AA batteries at 1.2–1.5 V in a nylon body measuring 85x40x88 mm and weighing 90 g, with an integrated IR LED beacon operating at a wavelength of 820–850 nm.

The built-in IR beacon offers two operating modes — steady and strobe — for friend identification in total darkness, visible only through night vision devices. The asymmetric switch on the body allows mode changes even with gloves on or under operational stress, without breaking focus on the field of view. Input voltage ranges from 2.0 to 3.5 V, compatible with standard alkaline and rechargeable NiMH batteries.

Gold-plated spring contacts ensure reliable conductivity over time and reduce the risk of connection loss due to oxidation. The water-resistant gasket protects the battery compartment from dust and moisture, which matters during extended operations.
