The FMA EXFIL Headset and Helmet Rail Adapter Set GEN1 is the adapter kit that allows Peltor Comtac I and Comtac II tactical headsets to be mounted directly onto the side rail of EXFIL-series helmets, eliminating the traditional rigid metal headband. The solution is designed for operators who wear a helmet in active service and need a stable, adjustable audio system that can be removed and reattached quickly.

Mounting is done via two knurled thumb screws that tighten and loosen by hand, with no tools required: the nut slides inside the helmet rail, allowing the adapter to be repositioned along the track to the optimal position for the wearer's head shape. This means two operators with different head sizes can adjust the same setup in seconds, without disassembling anything. Once secured, the mechanism keeps the headset firmly attached to the helmet even during sudden movement, unlike a headband which can slip or deform over time.

The main advantage over the original headband is ergonomic: with the headband removed and the headset clipped to the rail, the helmet shell sits closer to the head and pressure is distributed more evenly. The open and closed positions of the adapter allow the cups to be lowered over the ears or raised with a single motion, without removing the helmet. The kit includes two boom microphone adapters, and cabling can be routed inside or outside the shell depending on the preferred configuration. The GEN1 is compatible with Comtac I and Comtac II and their replicas; users with MSA headsets should check the GEN2 version.
