The system installs with just two knurled thumb screws, with no need to strip the helmet or remove interior padding: the nut slides into the integrated rail and locks at the chosen position with a simple hand-tight squeeze. This lets you adjust the lateral position of the headset while wearing gloves — a detail that counts in cold environments or when prep time is short. The two positions — open and closed — allow you to swing the cups on or off the ear quickly, without loosening the attachment to the helmet rail.

The main trade-off to be aware of is compatibility: the GEN1 is sized for Comtac I and Comtac II headsets and for replicas sharing the same mounting geometry.
