Retention is handled by an open-top elastic band: the magazine draws with a single motion, no buttons to press or retention straps to release, and re-inserts just as quickly. This makes it well suited to dynamic shooting and situations where reload speed matters more than passive security. The trade-off to keep in mind is that an elastic band does not lock the magazine as positively as a click-retention system: on rough terrain or during prolonged movement, anyone wearing a tilted vest or taking a fall may need to check that the magazines have stayed in place. Those who prioritise absolute retention over speed will find a snap or additional velcro closure more appropriate.
