BAOFENG UV-5R Military VHF/UHF Radio — Green

The UV-5R Military is a compact dual-band transceiver covering VHF (136–174 MHz) and UHF (400–520 MHz), fitted with a 2-pin Kenwood connector for headsets and PTT. It is designed for airsoft use where squad communication is a core part of tactics, and for anyone who wants a versatile radio for outdoor activities without giving up advanced features.

The ability to monitor two frequencies simultaneously via the Dual Watch function is the UV-5R's key operational strength: while listening on the squad channel, the second slot can follow a repeater or coordination channel without manual switching. The 128 memory channels allow different scenarios to be organised and recalled quickly in the field, with the option to assign alphanumeric names through PC programming. Output power is selectable between 5 W and 1 W on VHF and 4 W and 1 W on UHF: using low power in close-range situations extends battery life and reduces interference with other operators.

The VOX function with 10 sensitivity levels enables hands-free transmission, useful when operating with gloves or when both hands are occupied; the squelch, adjustable across 9 levels, filters out background noise without masking useful transmissions. The 50 CTCSS tones and 104 DCS codes ensure the radio responds only to calls from your own group, even in environments where multiple users share the same frequency. It is worth noting that transmitting on certain frequencies — particularly outside the PMR446 band and amateur radio allocations — requires a specific licence: always check current regulations before transmitting.
