Direct mounting on a 20 mm Picatinny rail needs no adapters: the sight attaches and detaches in seconds while retaining zero, which is relevant whenever the optic is transferred between platforms or removed for cleaning. The monolithic body reduces potential failure points compared to two-piece designs, at the cost of less flexibility in adjusting mount height.

An open red dot like the XPS 2-Z gives an unobstructed field of view: the shooter acquires the target with both eyes open without a tube narrowing peripheral vision.
